Monitoring of Ambient Air Quality Patterns and Assessment of Air Pollutants’ Correlation and Effects on Ambient Air Quality of Lahore, Pakistan

Industrialization, explosive population growth, anthropogenic activities, and vehicular exhaust deteriorate ambient air quality across the world. The current study aims at assessing impacts on patterns their co-relations in one of world’s most polluted cities, i.e., Lahore, Pakistan, during a strict, moderate, post-COVID-19 period 28 months (March 2020–June 2022). purpose this is to monitor analyze relationship between criteria pollutants (SO2, particulate matter (PM 10 2.5), CO, O3, NO2) through Haz-Scanner 6000 mobile van (ambient monitoring station) over nine towns Lahore. results showed significantly lower concentrations strict lockdown which increased moderate periods. illustrates significant increase SO2, PM10, PM2.5, NO2, range 100%, 270%, 500%, 300%, 70%, 115%, respectively. Major peaks (pollution concentration) for SO2 were found winter season. Multi-linear regression models show correlation PM with NO2 SO2. ratio concentration increasing nearly 2.5 times higher than A positive was observed CO data as well ground-based observation satellite CO. During COVID-19 lockdowns, reduction industrial improved This research sets ground further quantification total emissions vehicular/industrial human health.
